SCADA Engineer

Summary

We are seeking a dedicated SCADA Systems Engineer to join our team, focusing on the management, maintenance, and enhancement of various SCADA and Remote Terminal Unit (RTUs) systems. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring uninterrupted operations of our client SCADA and DCS systems, which are vital for monitoring and controlling large scale and critical distribution networks. This position involves troubleshooting, implementing, and designing and programming to support field projects, as well as evaluating and integrating edge and IoT field devices and technologies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee and improve the SCADA system's software and hardware, along with field RTU software.

  • Develop operational interfaces for the SCADA system, generate system reports, and manage historical and real-time data repositories.

  • Program, configure, and support the installation of new and updated field RTUs and telecommunication systems.

  • Administer remote communication links, including leased lines, cellular modems, radio, and fiber optics.

  • Collaborate with IT/OT Networking teams to ensure a secure and reliable SCADA network.

  • Provide essential reports and operational data to various departments and external agencies.

  • Deliver training and encourage innovation in system development among users.

  • Provide on-call support for the Real-Time SCADA system to guarantee continuous operation.

Key Skills
  • Proficient in SCADA and DCS (Distributed Control Systems) platforms, with a strong understanding of MQTT, Modbus, BSAP, OPC, SQL Server, TCP-IP, Microsoft Azure, and Office. Experience with Ignition, Wonderware/Aveva, and Cygnet is advantageous.

  • Experience with various PLC, RTU, and Control HMI types. i.e. Allen Bradley, Siemens, Omron, Opto22

  • Familiarity with Oil & Gas, Water/Wastewater, and Manufacturing system operations and a variety of communications protocols, including serial, Ethernet, and wireless.

  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, especially within SCADA systems and RTUs.

  • Strong project management capabilities and the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Effective communication skills, capable of providing training and collaborating with various departments and teams.

  • Commitment to innovation and continuous improvement in system development and operations.

    Education and Experience:

    • Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical and/or Computer Engineering.

    • A minimum of three to five (3-5) years of experience in a similar role, with a focus on SCADA and DCS systems.
